First pediatric dental visits can and should be fun! Your child is going on an adventure to new uncharted lands. By choosing Dr. Matt and the dental team, you are taking an important first step in creating a positive dental visit for your child. With our specialized training and fun environment, we strive to give your child the best dental experiences.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and the American Dental Association (ADA) both recommend that your child’s first dental visit be by one year old. With earlier visits, there is a better chance of preventing dental problems.
During your child’s first visit, Dr. Matt & the team will talk to you about good oral-hygiene habits for your child. He will discuss teething, proper nutrition, and dental milestones to be aware of. He will give you the chance to ask any questions you may have about toddler’s teeth. You may want to bring a list of your questions to the appointment so that you remember them when you’ve got the dentist’s attention.
Parents often wonder what to say to their small child prior to their first pediatric dental visit. Let your child know that you will be with them during their first visit – it may help them to know that you will by their side. Many parents with small children find it helpful to mention that Dr. Matt is very special doctor who only works with children. He loves to help little boys and girls have healthy mouths for chewing food that helps them grow.
